Vice-President Guy Scott has appealed to residents of Chinunda and Pwata to ignore prophets of doom that are claiming the PF will not deliver on its promises.
Dr Scott also said Government will continue according respect to former presidents Dr Kaunda and Rupiah Banda.
“People were saying Dr Kaunda will come back to power but where is he?” he asked.
The Vice-President was speaking when he held rallies in the two areas to drum up support for PF candidate Gideon Zulu for Thursday’s by-election.
Also in contention for the seat are United Party for National Development (UPND) candidate Timothy Nyirenda, Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) Victoria Kalima and Khumbiza Daka, who is standing on the United National Independence Party (UNIP) ticket.
Earlier, Dr Scott cancelled meetings he had in the area to attend funerals of the late Isiche Banda in Kasala and Chipisani Banda in Chatewo village.
He also visited Food Reserve Agency depots in Kasenengwa constituency and assured the farmers that FRA would continue to purchase maize contrary to rumours that the agency has run out of money.
And Eastern Province Minister Malozo Sichone has warned members of co-operatives against being involved in politics at the expense of development.
Mr Sichone said people are yearning for development and appealed to people in Eastern Province to rally behind President Sata.
Mr Zulu assured that if voted as MP, he would ensure improvement of the road network and the sinking of boreholes among several other projects.
