WBC silver bantamweight champion Catherine Phiri has encouraged pupils in examination classes not to rely on leakages.
In an interview in Livingstone, Catherine said youths should take pride in achieving academic excellence by using their own efforts and not depending on examination malpractices.
She said it is important for the youth to work hard in their academic work because education is their only key to a future that is full of opportunities to improve their lives.
“If you study hard, there is no need to have exam leakages. As youths let us just study hard while at school so that we can pride in our achievements,” Catherine advised.
“Leakages are not good because you will find that you have a leakage and when you are in the examination room and you find that the leakage you have is fake, you will be stressed and you will not write that paper properly. But even when the leakage is correct, there will be no pride if you pass because you were assisted by the leakage which is bad.”
She said every pupil should strive to pass using their own intellectual capacity.
And Catherine has urged youths against involving themselves in illicit vices such as alcohol abuse and illicit sex.
She said it was worrying that many young girls were falling pregnant while at school, adding that engaging in such vices would not have any benefit on their future.
“…Let us as youths keep ourselves busy by engaging in positive activities like sports and many other things,” advised Catherine.
