A 19-YEAR-OLD man of Lubengele in Chililabombwe has been sentenced to 17 years imprisonment with hard labour for defilement.
This is in a case in which Aaron Musukwa of house number 398 was charged with defilement.
The offence is contrary to section 138 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia as read with Act number two of 2011.
Particulars of the offence were that Musukwa, on July 6, 2012 in Kitwe, had carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 16.
Passing the sentence on Thursday, Kitwe High Court judge Judy Mulongoti said: “I have heard what your counsel has said in mitigation, I sentence you to 17 years imprisonment with hard labour.”
During trial, the girl told the court that on the material day, her mother sent her to go and charge her phone at her sister’s house in W section of Chililabombwe.
The girl said on her way, she met a man who covered her mouth and dragged her into an incomplete building and forcibly had sex with her.
