WYLBUR Simuusa says responsible PF members must not allow any senior party official to amplify their unbridled presidential ambitions and secret campaigns in the absence of President Michael Sata.
And Simuusa says the government is intact and President Sata will soon return home in perfect health as he has made tremendous progress in London, where he is receiving medical attention.
Simuusa, who is agriculture minister and also chairman of the mines in the ruling PF’s Central Committee, said divisive groupings, false speculations driven by malice and indiscipline exhibited by some individuals could destroy the PF if left unchecked.
“My message to all the leaders in the PF countrywide and all my fellow Cabinet ministers is that let’s promote unity amongst ourselves. This is not the time for us to start creating factions or pushing unbridled ambitions, labelling one another with a view to removing others in the system for some people to position themselves at the expense of party unity. This is the time to be united; it’s not a time to create camps which are not necessary and uncalled for,” Simuusa said.
He said it would be a mistake for any senior party member or Cabinet minister to begin to consider themselves political favourites because Zambians loved President Sata and wanted him to continue with his vision of making Zambia a better country.
Simuusa said the PF and President Sata enjoyed support and goodwill from Zambians, and no one would be allowed to destroy the relationship and trust that had been built over the years.
“People need President Sata more than ever before and we all need each other for us to serve the country diligently through this rare privilege the President and the people of Zambia gave us as ministers,” he said.
And Simuusa said Zambians must continue to pray for President Sata so that he returns home in perfect health.
Simuusa said President Sata was doing fine and should be returning home soon.
He said President Sata was loved by Zambians because he was a hard worker who had continued to deliver development through various projects taking place countrywide.
“This President is the most prolific leader that this country has ever produced. If we all emulate his character and attitude towards work, Zambia would see the much-needed development,” said Simuusa.
