A man suspected to have murdered his wife committed suicide.
Police yesterday picked up the body of Precious Lungu, 25, behind Mount Meru filling station, opposite Libala High School.
Ms Lungu of house number 156, New Chilenje Township is suspected to have been murdered by Gerard Ngoma of Matero Township between Sunday and yesterday.
Police acting spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said in a statement yesterday that Ms Lungu was discovered with deep cuts on the head and multiple cuts on hands.
A broken bottle and stones believed to have been used in the act were found on the scene.
Mr Ngoma committed suicide by taking poisonous substance suspected to be insecticide doom and his body was found yesterday around 06.30 hours in Matero.
Both bodies were taken to the UTH mortuary awaiting postmortem.
In Kapiri Mposhi, police recovered more than 10 travelling bags which were snatched from moving buses and other motor vehicles at a deviation and are holding two people to assist with investigations.
Central Province deputy Police chief Edwin Bwanga said the bags were being snatched from moving vehicles and warned that police would ensure those involved in such acts faced the law.
Last week, some residents bemoaned the increased incidents of thefts at the bridge in Kapiri Mposhi as motorists were using a deviation due to road works on the main tarred road.
