After nullifying the election of Edgar Lungu as PF President yesterday, Acting President Guy Scott has officially opened a general conference in Kabwe which will elect a PF presidential candidate.

And Dr Scott has appointed Southern Province Minister Daniel Munkombwe as acting Chairperson for the National Council, the Supreme body of the PF.

However, PF Chairperson for elections Sylvia Masebo has told ZNBC News that her group is not aware of any injunction granted restraining the PF General Conference going ahead.

Dr Scott says he has exercised the powers vested in him in article 61(g) of the PF constitution to appoint Mr Munkombwe as Chairperson of the PF National Council.

But Mr Lungu says he has with immediate effect fired party secretary general Bridget Atanga and Anthony Kasolo from their positions as PF Secretary General and Deputy respectively.

Mr Lungu has further suspended the party chairperson for elections Sylvia Masebo for alleged gross indiscipline, and has referred her case to the disciplinary committee.

Mr. Lungu has accused the two leaders of being behind the cconfusion in the party.

On Dr. Guy Scott’s decision to declare null and void yesterday’s general conference that elected him as PF president, Mr Lungu says the action was taken after Dr. Scott was relieved of his position as Acting PF President which rendering his statement void.

Mr. Lungu has accused Dr. Scott of working against the wishes of the party and legacy of late President MMichael Sata.

He has accused Dr. Scott is engaged in a serious programme designed to keep the PF from national campaigns.

Mr. Lungu further alleges that Dr. Scott is attempting to impose a private agenda against the will of the PF and the nation.

People’s party leader Mike Mulongoti and Agenda for Better Zambia president Frank Bwalya were present and pledged support to Mr. Lungu to ensure PF finished its 5 year term.

At the same PF media briefing, national chairperson Inonge Wina gave Mr. Lungu the certificate of adoption as the party’s candidate during the January 20, 2015 presidential election.
