The Patriotic Front says its party President Edgar Lungu will not use government facilities during campaigns ahead of the January 20 Presidential election.

PF Secretary General, Davies Chama says Mr Lungu will conduct a fair, peaceful, and non-violent campaign as enshrined in the electoral laws and in accordance with good governance principles.

Mr Chama says in a statement that Mr Lungu has been using party resources to conduct his campaigns even though he is Minister of Defence and Minister of Justice.

He said during campaigns in Kitwe and Mansa the Helicopters and Plane used were hired from the private aviation companies and that no Government facilities were used from the Zambia Air force.

He says Mr Lungu has advised all ministers and other government officials to comply with the law on the restriction not to use of public resources.

Only the Republican President and the Vice-President are allowed by law to use government facilities during campaigns.

Mr Chama also says the PF National Campaign Committee will next Monday unveil a comprehensive 40 day national campaign program.

The program will give details of the public rallies and public appearances by the PF President Edgar Lungu.

Meanwhile National Revolutionary Party-NRP Cosmo Mumba has endorsed the candidature of Patriotic Front-PF President Edgar Lungu for January 20,2015 Presidential Elections.

This is despite the NRP’s National Executive Committee’s decision to adopt Dr Mumba as a contender for the forth-coming Presidential Polls.

But Dr Mumba has termed as illegal, the NRP’s Meeting that adopted him and suspended Party National Chairperson Cephas Tembo, who was a convenor.

He says according to Article 16-A of NRP constitution he is the only one mandated to sanction the Party’s NEC Meeting.

On the other hand Dr Mumba has welcomed the verdict by NRP members to adopt him but stated that the status quo is subject to another NRP’s National Executive Committee Meeting.

He was speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka, where earlier, his deputy Kelly Walubita Junior said NRP is confident that Dr MUMBA has now meets all legal requirements to contest the Presidential Polls.

Mr Walubita has expressed optimism that Dr Mumba will win the 2015 Presidential Polls because he toured all the 10 provinces of Zambia, with late President Michael Sata as he was his ally.

He added that NRP will only demonstrate its political relevance by constesting the Presidential Polls because the party has since 2006 been endorsing other Presidential candidate.
