Police Nab 4 For Attacking Cadres

Police in Lusaka have arrested four people for attacking a Mahogany bus which was coming from Livingstone carrying Patriotic Front delegates.
And 15 people have been arrested in connection with the beating of a man who was dressed in UPND regaliaat Intercity Bus Terminus on Wednesday.
Police spokesperson Charity Chanda said in a statement released in Lusakyesterday that the four were arrested on November 24 and 27.
Ms Chanda said the bus registration number AJC 9324 carrying 48 delegates was intercepted after the flyover bridge near Kamwala on November 24 by a Rosa minibus registration number ALP 7559
“The passengers on the Rosa who were armed with assorted offensive weapons disembarked and began smashing the Marcopolo bus windows leaving six passengers injured,” Ms Chanda said.
The four have been charged with malicious damage to property and assault occasioning actual bodily harm and will appear in court today.
And Ms Chanda said 15 people have been arrested in connection with the beating of a man who was dressed in UPND regalia and smashing of two vehicles at Intercity on Wednesday.
She said police officers were deployed to the bus terminus to restore law and order.
“The 15 are currently being screened and all those who will be confirmed to have been involved will be arrested and taken to court,” she said.
