Following calls by some members for the acting president to resign, Guys Scott has responded and emphasized that he will not resign. In a written statement dated 17th December 2014, written by Acting President Guy Scott and obtained by Tumfweko, Scott says he will not be blackmailed to allow the illegal use of government resources for partisan interests.

There have been reports of desperation by team Lungu to use government resources to fund and facilitate their campaigns though Scott has maintained that he will not allow use of Government resources. Reliable sources told Tumfweko that some senior party members called for guy Scott resignation after Scott blocked them from using government resources in their campaigns. “The wanted to use public funds and government property facilitate their campaigns but Guys Scott is a principled man and you know that man is very difficult to comprise.” The source said.
