UPND President Hakainde Hichilema has pledged and appealed to Zambians to trust him that he will manage the country in an efficient manner if elected President next week.
Mr. Hichilema says he will be methodical, prudent, and efficient in running government.
The UPND leader says his first task will be to deal with the high cost of food by harnessing the agriculture potential in the country.
He was speaking during a fundraising cocktail for his party last evening.
Mr. Hichilema says the fundraising was necessary because campaigns are not cheap, saying he has so far been using his personal money.
Mr Hichilema has asked those in attendance to donate generously in support of his presidential bid.
He expressed confidence of winning the next Tuesday Presidential Poll and announced that he will increase his fleet of three helicopters to six.
He says the helicopters will be used in monitoring election results.
Mr. Hichilema says the money raised from the cocktail whose tickets were selling at 5-hundred kwacha will help support the expenses for UPND volunteers and also meet the other costs associated with campaigns.
And Cocktail organizing Patron, Suresh Desai says the UPND is not just looking at fundraising for the January 20 Presidential election but also the 2016 General elections.
UPND Campaign Manager Dipak Patel called on electorates to vote for the UPND.
And speaking earlier at Mulungushi International Conference during the presidential debate organized by Muvi TV and Hot FM, Mr Hichilema said he has been motivated to run for office of President to “…address the paradox of poor people in a rich country.”
The Debate featured other candidates he also thanked; Dr Nevers Mumba of the MMD, Peter Sinkamba of the Green Party, Edith Nawakwi of FDD and Elias Chipimo Junior of NAREP.
