A Zambian miner of the China-Non Ferrous Mining Company (CNMC) Luanshya Copper Mines (CLM) has died after his head was blown off by an air compressed pipe. The deceased identified as Cletus Chishala, 46, of House Number 490, Section 27, in Luanshya’s Mpatamatu township has since been buried.
CLM head of public relations Sydney Chileya confirmed yesterday that the accident happened around 10:30 hours on Saturday at Baluba mine as the deceased tried to open the pipe which had compressed air and snapped on him.
“The deceased died as a result of head injuries as part of his head was blown off after being hit by compressed air from a four-inch pipe as he tried to open it,” he said.
