The opposition UPND says it is not shaken by President Edgar Lungu’s recent warning for the opposition to brace itself for a more united and strengthened PF ahead of 2016 general elections.
UPND Deputy Spokesperson Edwin Lifwekelo says his party thinks that such a statement by President Lungu is normal for any political party to make because the fight is about wanting to govern the country.
Mr. Lifwekelo notes that President Lungu should however be mindful that the opposition too is working at uniting and increasing the numbers of supporters ahead of next year’s general elections.
He says the UPND therefore suspects that by warning the opposition in the manner President Lungu has done could only be a strategy of trying to consolidate his party the ruling PF.
