It is disheartening what is happening at Kansanshi Mines.
Firstly, according to the laws of Zambia no foreigner is supposed to carry out human resource works in any company. However this is not the case with Kansanshi mines where we have Lara Vermaak (South African) in the fore front of all human resource works. She even signs on peoples contract. Last time when the president came to visit Kansanshi, they even moved all the Human Resource files from her office so they could hide their dubious acts.
The Zambian human resource manager Wesley Chishimba is just seat warmer as he reports to Lara. Wesley is a boot leaker who doesn’t care about the welfare of his fellow Zambians. The Boers have shut his mouth by shifting him and his family into the golf estate where he enjoys a lot of comfort as a result he has forgotten the reasons why he is the Human resource manager. He works hard to please the Boers by disadvantaging his fellow Zambians. For example, there are people who are being offered decent contracts by their managers but Wesley is refusing saying you can’t give them such good contracts. It seems he is in fore front blocking his compatriots.
Our appeal to Wesley is to be professional enough and serve all employees diligently. If he chooses not to listen, we will rise against him, like what happened to his comrade at Lumwana, until he gets removed. It is not too late Wesley!
We have a situation where a Zambian is shooting his fellow Zambians in the foot so that they can’t move forward.
