ABZ’s Patricia Mwashingwele who was on Tuesday dropped from the position of party vice-president said in an interview that she needed time to think and decide the way forward for her political career.
“I think for now, I just want to take a break because from the Katuba by-elections, people were exhausted. I just want to rest and get focused again on my political career and which way to go in politics,” she said.
Mwashingwele said she had no immediate plans of leaving the Alliance for Better Zambia as her dismissal was based on the party constitution.
“Well, the party president (Frank Bwalya) quoted a verse from our constitution, which he said as founding president, he has the privilege of appointing and disappointing, so if my dismissal was based on our constitution, then I will not object because that is what we are all bound by,” she said.
Mwashingwele said she was comfortable with the options the dismissal letter contained asking her to remain an ordinary member.
“I was given options by our party president to remain an ordinary member. I think to me that was fair enough,” she said and thanked Bwalya for the good working relations that existed between them.
Mwashingwele said she would in the near future inform the nation on what decision she would take on her political career.
Bwalya on Tuesday dropped Mwashingwele with immediate effect based on the party constitution article number 46 clause 1 which stated that the office bearers for Alliance for Better Zambia at all times should be appointed directly by the founding president of the party and may be disappointed in the same manner of appointment.
