Daniel Munkombwe says the PF should not allow fools to take over government.
And PF secretary general, Wynter Kabimba, says UPND is holding people of Southern Province ‘hostage’ by telling them that President Michael Sata didn’t like them.
Addressing a meeting at Malima Basic School in Sinazongwe, Munkombwe who is PF Southern Province minister and provincial party chairperson, said PF members shouldn’t be frustrated by the opposition.
“This is politics. I have the experience. Don’t be frustrated because if you do, fools will take over government and lead you. Kabwe kalema, nyamuka (tough one Wynter Kabimba stand up). ayebo (you too, Richwell Siamunene) I don’t command them. I lead them. They are good leaders, and I am proud to work together with them and President Michael Sata,” Munkombwe said.
He said people condemning Sinazongwe UPND member of parliament for joining the government were not genuine.
Munkombwe said UPND leaders against the appointment of Siamunene as deputy minister were well-to-do and did not have the interest of the majority poor at heart.
“Don’t listen to them. Don’t listen to lies. Don’t listen to someone from Monze who will tell you not to vote for Siamunene. He’s yours here. He comes from chief Mweemba. When they come, don’t listen to them. Why do you clap for fools?” said Munkombwe in an apparent reference to UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema.
And Kabimba said UPND was holding southerners hostage, using tribe, and telling people that President Sata didn’t like them.
Kabimba said people shouldn’t accept leaders that championed divisions in the country.
“The only way they are holding you hostage is lie to you that Michael Sata doesn’t like you. But I’ve come to tell you that President Michael Sata loves you. If he didn’t like you, he wouldn’t have appointed me, who is one of you, as secretary general and Minister of Justice. People that don’t want you are the so-called leaders who want to separate you from the rest of the country as citizens. Like the Bible says, ‘you shall know them by their deeds’. Even true leaders, you shall know them by their deeds and Michael Sata’s works are there for all to see. He’s uniting the country,” he said.
Kabimba said leaders trying to win political mileage through tribe were not genuine.
He said the issue of development under PF was a matter of life and death.
Kabimba said PF was a vehicle for redemption.
“Those of us that worked with Michael Sata as a councillor could tell that he was a good leader for a country. There’s no comparison between a chicken and a bull. My brother HH (Hichilema) has failed to grow UPND from where the late Anderson Mazoka left it. UPND under HH has gone down. In 2016 after losing, he will be nowhere,” said Kabimba.
PF won the 2011 elections by 43.2 per cent, MMD 37.8 and UPND got 19 per cent.
