Since the foundation of the modern stadium in Lusaka many Zambians have made many comments and suggestions of what it should be called and most of the names suggested were relating to our national team that died in air crash in 1993 in Gabon.
The right time has come to give the modern stadium a name and our cabinet like wise they were thinking in the same line with most of us, however, the formula of the name as just come out with mixed feelings from many fans “Gabon Disaster Heroes Stadium” How do you call a place of fun (Gabon disaster…) Why not calling it “Heroes Stadium” like suggested by the FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya. We all know that by calling it “Heroes Stadium” will still honor our fallen heroes whilst maintaining the relation that Zambia and Gabon share.
The Government should give hear to the owners of the stadium before writing that name on the seats or at stadium, otherwise, the name itself will cost us a lot by the behavior of fans. Besides, we have to think beyond the structures we are building now. Please listen to us, our Stadium should be called “Heroes Stadium” as suggested by many Zambians
