Zambians must support President Sata because he is the vision-carrier of the country’s development agenda and the torch-bearer of the Patriotic Front (PF), acting President Wynter Kabimba has said.
Mr Kabimba, who is Minister of Justice and PF secretary-general, said Zambians have a duty to rally behind President Sata so that he can develop the country.
Mr Kabimba was speaking on Friday in Shibuyunji district during a meeting with PF leaders.
“We all have one leader – Michael Sata. So we all must support him and work hard for the good of the people of this country. He needs our support to develop this country and achieve his vision,” he said.
Mr Kabimba said President Sata has set up new districts throughout the country in order to serve people by taking Government closer to them.
He said President Sata has since increased districts from the 72 to over 130 after the PF took over Government.
Mr Kabimba said the PF must continue to be an instrument of service to people because President Sata has demonstrated his love for the country.
“This is serious business. It is not a playful matter. It is not Chongololo Club or the UPND [United Party for National Development] dreaming about coming into power. We are here to serve the poor and uplift their lives. So those of you who are not willing to be servants, step aside because President Sata is in a hurry to develop this country,” he said.
Mr Kabimba said it is certain that the UPND will not win the 2016 elections like they have been fantasising.
“I hear people saying the UPND will win the 2016 general elections. That is wishful thinking. The PF is here to serve ordinary people and this is why President Sata has embarked on massive development projects,” he said.
And speaking earlier, PF Lusaka province chairman Geoffrey Chumbwe appealed to the members in Shibuyunji district to grow the party.
“Some PF members have been very instrumental in organising the party. Let Shibuyunji also get organised. Work hard and support his Excellency President Sata in achieving his vision,” Mr Chumbwe said.
Mr Kabimba was in Shibuyunji’s Nampundwe area for a series of meetings with Government and PF officials.
He was accompanied by a member of the PF central committee Annie Kayula, women’s chairperson Maggie Mumba and Youth chairperson Kennedy Kamba among others.
