‘Nkandu Luo Has failed Us,Its Niza Phiri in 2016-Munali’

Residents of munali consitituency have bitterly complained about being neglected by their area member of parliament professor Nkandu Luo. A resident spoken to Scrivener Wabei, had complained that Luo , had never been to M’tendere and was only seen on TV, “we are facing serious water outages here in Mtendere, sometimes we go two days without water, and we don’t even get to understand why, that’s why we are saying , that is 2016, we will put this young Man niza, atleast he seems like a genuine person and one of us” another resident from salama Park mofya mainda had complained that her area salama park, had very bad roads, and also that the health service delivery was very poor at local clinics, and that Luo had just been busy with her ministry issues and forgot the people who took her to parliament, when asked about water, she said they had to use buckets because the water would only be available at certain times. She further went on to say in 2016 , we need a new MP for the area, one who is a local resident, “I hear there is a 25 year old engineer from chelstone standing as an independent MP(niza phiri), may be that’s the type of person we need here, a youth , proactive , a people person with bright ideas.

 

Other residents in kaunda square complained of poor drainage facilities and garbage waste disposal, “Our Mother Nkandu Luo has failed us, we need someone new in 2016, may be we will try that young guy Niza Phiri, he has good Ideas and seems trust worthy, kapena vintu vinga chingeko” , when contacted, Niza thanked munali resisdents for the confidence ” I thank munali residents for the confidence in me to lead them, I agree with them, our mother has disapointed us here in munali, we feel as if we have no representatives, there are a lot of challenges we are facing as residents of this constituency, water problems in chelstone, avondale, salama park, kaunda sq 1 and 2, mtendere, kalingalinga, mumana and the rest of the places, what we need to do is build extra water sorage tanks in the constituency,” niza a former copperbelt university students union social secretary and later council chairperson aswell as zambia national students union copperbelt region think tank chairperson, under these he was intrumental in pushing for hostel accomodation at higher learning institutions around the country. He was also very vocal on many matters of national interest like subsidies and the constitution.

 

He  is seen by many as a the peoples person, having grown up in chelstone and schooling at kabulonga boys high school, mtendere was his natural play ground. Having obtained a bachelors degree in Electrical-Mechanical engineering from the copperbelt university and currently employed as a design engineer, Niza charms residents with his humility and brilliant ideas ” what we need here is a proper water reticulation system, youth empowerment by funding entreprenual ideas of local youths, proper garbage management, increasing staff at local health centres, improving services at unza, grading roads and more comunication with the people from mps to know what really the challenges are in this area”
