Man To Lose A Vitz After Loosing Presidential Election Bet

A CHIPATA mechanic has dragged his friend to court after he refused to surrender a vehicle following a bet on who was going to win last month’s presidential election between PF’s Edgar Lungu and UPND’s Hakainde Hichilema.
“At first I suggested that we bet K50 but he said it was too small. I said K500, again he said it was small until in the end he said he will bet his Vitz. I told him that I don’t have a vehicle because the only vehicle I had was down until we settled for a house. We agreed and this is even written somewhere and my wife is a witness. When Hichilema was doing fine in some areas, he used to come to my place to tell me that I will only be given five days to depart the house upon Hichilema winning,” Tembo said.
He wondered why Mbewe could not fulfill his promise after the election results were announced.

How T.B. Joshua Prophesied Nigerian Election Postponement In February 2014

Amidst the controversy swirling around the decision by the electoral commission to postpone Nigeria’s elections by six weeks, Nigerian Prophet T.B. Joshua has released a video online with a prophecy he allegedly gave one year ago.

“What I am seeing is heavy. I am seeing rain – the cloud is darker. The fulfillment of 2015 – pray for it,” Joshua told congregants on February 9th 2014 in a clip uploaded to YouTube channel ‘Emmanuel TV’.

“Is that not the time of elections? Democracy is sweet – pray that your democracy would not be rubbished,” he continued.

Clarifying further, the cleric added, “I am seeing disagreement at the end of the day and that disagreement can result to anything. Nigeria, these are the challenges you are going to face – challenges of disagreement… They will want to fight; we have to pray.”

The clip concluded with another segment of Joshua addressing his congregation, this time on November 9th 2014. “Pray for your nation,” he said. “If you are able to cross this election, you cross it all. The election you are about to do will determine Nigeria.”

The elections, which were scheduled to hold on February 14th 2015, have been shifted to 28th March, in a move widely criticized as being ‘undemocratic’.

The electoral commission cited security concerns as the reason for the postponement with several areas in the north-east of the country still under the control of Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram.

Mugabe Collapse, 27 Guards Suspended

Mugabe falls 1Heads have started rolling as the fallout over President Robert Mugabe’s embarrasing fall at Harare International Airport on Wednesday begins.

Sources said up to 27 members of the presidential security and advance team who seemed immobilised as Mugabe tripped and tumbled after addressing hundreds of Zanu-PF supporters who had been bussed to welcome him on his return from the African Union summit, have been suspended.

According to the sources, the guards were handed their suspension letters on Friday.

Officials at Munhumutapa government building said an investigation was launched on the night that Mugabe fell at the airport on his return from Ethiopia where he had just taken charge as the new chairperson of the African Union.

But Presidential spokesperson George Charamba yesterday dismissed the reports of a shake up in President Mugabe’s security team as a fallacy.

“There is only one hand that shakes up and that hand has not shaken up [anything]. What is there to shake up? The last time you heard about a shake up it was from us and not from media reports,” Charamba said.

But sources insisted a shake up had indeed taken place and there were indications that some officials could be fired.

At the State House on Friday afternoon where President Mugabe was meeting newly-elected Zambian leader Edgar Lungu, new faces could be seen on his security team.

After the meeting that took almost five hours, Mugabe escorted Lungu outside the State House with both hands in his pockets. The two did not address journalists who had gathered.

When Lungu was departing in his motorcade, Mugabe stood for a few minutes outside before walking back into his office at State House.

Another official said although some people were taking the fall lightly, it was a serious matter that had to be dealt with thoroughly.

“There are many departments that are being investigated, from Air Zimbabwe, the advance team and the security. I doubt if some of them will come back,” said the official close to the developments.

“The issue here is simple. The security team was caught napping.

They were taking things for granted and failed to adhere to basics. It is protocol that the immediate proximity is, at most, three metres from the President. These are the bullet takers and in cases where he falls they are supposed to hold him either by the arm or by the shoulder and should never take their eyes off him.”

The official added: “He went on to touch the ground on all fours. That should never happen. What if someone pulled a gun? The immediate proximity team should have helped him up because those are the people that are allowed to touch him before anyone else.”

Information gathered revealed that the immediate proximity team was also there to prevent members of the public getting dangerously close to the President as happened when British gay rights activist Peter Thatchell attempted a citizen’s arrest on Mugabe in 1999.

SNL Metals and Mining, a global mining information and analysis company says Zambia might regret implementing the new mineral royalty tax regime.

SNL Metals and Mining resources policy analysts Asa Borssen has told Reuters that There are benefits to implementing a royalty system in this kind of governance environment in developing countries but it has to be reasonable in comparison to other tax environments.

Borssen says Zambia will lose out on revenue as companies will move their investments elsewhere.

Borssen notes that if companies start to see other countries as a better match for their investments then those will be moved to where the rate of return is the most favorable, citing the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo.

Government has maintained that the new mining tax regime is final. Copper prices are currently around $5,700 per tonne.

MUBANGA NONDO, Ndola
TWO girls aged nine and 10 years of Chipulukusu township in Ndola have narrated before the Ndola Magistrate’s Court how a 36-year-old man of the same township allegedly defiled them one after the other.
Narrating their ordeal to magistrate Chitundu Chongo last Thursday when the matter came up for trial, the minors explained that James Tiite first asked them to cook nshima, which they ate together before he allegedly had sex with them.
“We were playing on the material day and then the accused called us and asked us to go to the market to buy cooking oil and charcoal. Upon returning, he asked us to light a fire so that we could cook nshima and we did.
“And after cooking, we all ate the nshima and afterwards he asked us to go to the bedroom with him where he allegedly defiled us one after another,” the victims said.
The nine-year-old victim also told Ms Chongo that Tiite allegedly defiled her friend while she stood aside to watch as the accused had locked the door to the bedroom and hid the keys within the bedroom to prevent her from running away.
And when cross-examined why they did not scream for help if he truly defiled them, the victims told the court that he had threatened to knife them if they told anyone about what had happened and even gave them a K7.50 for them to share.
This is a matter in which Tiite, unemployed  and of unknown address but in Chipulukusu, pleaded not guilty to two counts of defilement.
It is alleged that on November 22 last year in Ndola, Tiite had unlawful carnal knowledge of the girls aged nine and 10.
He is in custody.

Slap Dee’s Absence From Court Annoys Former Wife’s Family

Slap deeSINGER Slap Dee on Friday angered the family of his ex-wife after he sent a woman thought to be his girlfriend to stand in for him in court with a sick note in a case where he has been sued for child custody. Slap Dee, whose real names are Mwila Musonda, was scheduled to appear in court in a case where Matakala Lubinda has sued him for child custody. However, the case could not take off because the keys to the room where documents were kept could not be located. The woman delivered Slap Dee’s sick note to Lusaka magistrate Albert Mwaba’s marshal, but Lubinda’s family rejected it saying it was issued by a private hospital. This prompted the marshal to take the two parties to magistrate Mwaba’s chambers to resolve the dispute after which the case was adjourned to February 20. The rapper’s decision to send the woman, identified only as Wendy, to represent him angered Lubinda’s family, who thought he was being disrespectful. The family also questioned Slap Dee’s illness, arguing that he was all right the previous day. Lubinda’s mother, who was in the company of other family members, wondered why Slap Dee did not send an elderly representative. She told Wendy that her daughter had suffered at the hands of Slap Dee, warning her that she would face the same fate. “He is very disrespectful. How does he send a girlfriend to represent him in a matter that she does not even understand? My daughter has suffered and he will treat you the same way he is treating her,” she said, pointing at Wendy. Asked to confirm if it was true she was the singer’s girlfriend, Wendy said, “I have no comment. Report whatever you want, I don’t owe you an explanation.” Earlier, before the case was adjourned, Wendy looked composed and smiled as Matakala’s family took turns in passing comments on her. After the case was adjourned, Wendy kept hiding from the camera. Slap Dee, who was married to Lubinda for three years, was granted divorce in November last year by the Chilenje Local Court in Lusaka. He was ordered to pay a monthly fee of K300 towards child maintenance.

ZCTU Demands Deportation Of Abusive Intercontinental Hotel Manager

The Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) has called on government to immediately deport Intercontinental Hotel Assistant General Manager Michael Naber for abusing workers’ rights and threatening them with dismissals.

And the union movement has called on government to reintroduce the Civil Service Management courses at the National Institute for Public Administration (NIPA) so as to inculcate knowledge on how to handle disciplinary procedures in government and parastatal institutions.

ZCTU Secretary General Cosmas Mukuka has told a media briefing in Lusaka that the union is appalled by the behavior of management at Intercontinental hotel where workers have lost dignity and are working in fear due to the heavy handedness of management.

Mr. Mukuka recalls that last year, Intercontinental Hotel dismissed about 130 workers on allegations that they went on an illegal strike and it had to take the intervention of the Hotels and Catering Workers Union of Zambia and the Ministry of Labour to intervene and for 96 workers to be reinstated.

Mr. Mukuka states that workers at the hotel followed the law before going on strike by taking all steps required to call for a strike, therefore it cannot be true that workers went on an illegal strike.

He adds that despite a directive from the Ministry of Labour to reinstate the remaining 34 workers, management at Intercontinental hotel has been adamant.

The ZCTU Secretary General adds that they have information that hotel management wants to cut the workforce from 290 to 150 workers.

Mr Mukuka says ZCTU will not support any move to increase unemployment in the country because this is against government efforts of creating jobs for people.

And Mr. Mukuka has called on the Zambia Police Service in Ndola to arrest and charge a senior High Court official who slapped a general worker within the court premises.

Mr. Mukuka says the action by the High Court senior officer agitated workers at the court who are demanding that Police arrest him for assault.

He wonders why police are shielding the officer in question from facing the law.

Drunk Zambian Diplomat Slams In NYPD Car

020915_diplomat_emk_001.JPGA sloshed Zambian government official who “reeked of alcohol” and could barely talk slammed his car into a parked NYPD van in Queens on Monday morning, injuring two officers, police sources said.

But Langford Banda isn’t going to face criminal charges or even get a traffic ticket — thanks to his diplomatic immunity.

Banda, 41 — whose blood-alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit — was simply allowed to sober up overnight at the 112th Precinct station house before walking away scot-free.

“He was a total mess,” a law-enforcement source told The Post. “He got off because he’s a diplomat. Not our choice.”

Banda, who works as the second secretary of communications for the African nation’s UN mission, lost control of his 2006 BMW and sideswiped the parked van on 180th Street near 90th Avenue shortly after midnight on Monday.

Despite their minor injuries, the officers in the van pulled over the boozy diplomat and immediately saw his “bloodshot eyes” and found he “reeked of alcohol” as he tried to talk, sources said.

Banda could hardly hold himself upright as he stepped out of the car for a Breathalyzer test, on which he blew a staggering .158 blood alcohol level — almost twice the legal limit of .08, the sources said.

He was so boozed up, he didn’t even remember he possessed a Get Out of Jail Free card — his Zambian diplomatic credentials.

Cops were unaware that Banda had diplomatic immunity until they got him back to the 112th Precinct station house in Forest Hills and realized he was carrying a US State Department ID that showed he’s a member of Zambia’s UN mission.

After confirming Banda’s identity with his homeland and conferring with their superiors, cops were left with no choice but to release him without charging him with a crime.

The Zambian was picked up at the station house by his wife, Ellen, who drove him back to their home in Jamaica, where he was able to sleep off his hangover. The Post found him a few hours after his release, still lounging in a pair of pajamas. With bloodshot eyes, he tried to downplay the international incident.

“It was nothing like that,” Banda proclaimed when asked about the drunken-driving allegations. “I was involved in an accident but I was not drinking.”

Officials at the Zambian Mission’s offices on East 52nd Street in Manhattan declined to comment.

Facts About Condoms You Never Knew

$

LOVE condomsWhat is the International Condom Day (ICD)?

ICD is one of AHF’s annual HIV prevention initiatives. Condom use is an essential part of modern romance so ICD is scheduled to coincide with Valentine’s Day in order remind people that love and romance, sex appeal and attraction go hand in hand with trust and protection.

Why do you choose to climax all your annual condom promotion activities on 13th February?

Around Valentines’ Day, the lovers’ day, we remind all lovers that condoms are cool! AHF has two condom brands LOVE™ and ICON™. Both are high quality and both are free to the public. What better day than the day before Valentine’s Day to remind people that if you love someone, you should love them safely!

What do you intend to achieve on this day?

We hope to increase public awareness on safer sex and its benefits, promote condom use and educate the public on proper use of condoms.

Why are you promoting Condom Use?

The fact is that using a condom makes sex 10,000 times safer than not using a condom. Some studies have also shown that condom-use prolongs erections, debunking the myth that condoms reduce sexual pleasure.

Why are we seeing such a declining trend in condom use?

At the individual level condoms remain unsexy. Many men won’t use them because they believe they reduce sexual pleasure and many women are afraid to ask their partners to use them for fear of being called names  and possibly facing violence.

Are condoms really effective?

If used correctly and consistently condoms are highly effective. They act as a barrier to prevent one partners getting into contact with the sexual fluids of the other partner.

Is it true that some condoms burst during intercourse. What may cause condoms to burst?

Condom bursting may be due to:

  • friction caused by lack of foreplay
  • incorrect use such as failure to squeeze the air out of the tip when putting the condom on to create space for the semen,
  • Using the wrong lubrication i.e. Vaseline or other oil-based products which weakens the rubber

Is it necessary to use condoms when one is HIV positive?

  • Yes, even when both the partners are infected, to avoid re-infection. Everyone’s virus is slightly different, using your own DNA to replicate. Re-infection add strain on the immune system, weakening it.
  • If one partner is negative and the other positive it is important to maintain condom use to ensure that the HIV negative partner does not contract the virus.

Why do some people develop irritations when they use condoms?

Some people are allergic to rubber/ latex from which condoms are made. However, in circumstances where irritation continues seek medical attention or access condoms which are made of other materials such as polyurethane (plastic)

What should you do if a condom remains in a woman’s vagina after sex?

You can avoid this situation by withdrawing immediately after ejaculating, before the penis becomes flaccid. If it does happen, don’t panic. Tell the person to squat with knees wide apart and insert two fingers and pull out the condom. Don’t worry; it will not go further than that and it will not affect your partner’s health. You or your partner can remove it easily with your fingers.

Does using two condoms at the same time provide double protection?

No. One condom if used correctly is enough to provide you with adequate protection.

Does using both a male and female condom at the same time provide more protection?

No. A couple can decide to use either a male or female condom but not both at the same time. The friction between the two rubber surfaces can lead to damage

Is it okay to apply Vaseline/creams on a condom for lubrication?

No. Vaseline and other oil-based lubricants such as baby oil weaken the rubber and cause the condom to tear.

Can a condom be ineffective before its expiry date?

Yes. Depending on how it is handled/ stored, a condom can lose its effectiveness before the expiry date if stored in hot or damp place or exposed to direct sunlight. Make sure you don’t keep condoms in your wallet.

Can an expired condom offer protection if doubled?

No. Condoms should have lost their measured effectiveness three years from the stipulated date of manufacture.

Do condoms cause cancer?

No. There is no scientific evidence linking cancer to condom use.

Can one condom be used more than once?

No. A condom should be used once and disposed of.

Can a condom fit small and big penis sizes?

Yes. A condom has the capacity to expand and fit all sizes for adult sexually active persons. Men with large penises might find larger condoms more comfortable and ICON™ condoms were specially developed to ensure that even very well-endowed men can enjoy very sexy safer-sex in comfort.

For how long can one condom be used in a sexual intercourse?

A condom remains effective for one round of sex.

Can one get infected with STIs / HIV during the process of removing a condom after a sexual intercourse?

It is possible for infection to occur if you have wounds or sores on your fingers which might come into contact with sexual fluids or if one cleaning cloth is used for both partners.

Is true that some people get infected with STIs in spite of using condoms consistently?

Using a condom correctly and consistently protects from most sexually transmitted infections. It is possible to be infected during other sex acts such as oral sex. You can also be infected with some STIs through contact with infected blood.

What should a person do when a partner objects to condom use?

Ideally, be assertive and say “No condom no sex!!” Try to educate your partner on the great benefits of condom use, such as prolonged erection.

Should married couples also use condoms?

Yes for several reasons. People may not be aware of each other’s HIV status, one of the partners might be cheating, condom usage is encourage in couples that are sero-discordant and condoms are also an excellent form of birth control for couples choose to space out their pregnancies.

Why do some condoms have bad smells?

The bad smell may be due to chemical compounds which were not washed out during the production process, some condoms have a rubber related smell unless they are scented.

Which is the best condom to use?

Which is the best soap to use if you need to get clean? All condoms distributed by the Department of Health and HIV organisations are effective. Make sure they have not expired by checking the date stamp before use. There are lots of brands available so try different one to work out which ones you prefer.

Do condoms make sex less pleasurable?

No. In fact many people report feeling freer and more relaxed during sex because they aren’t worrying about infection. There is also the added benefit of prolonged erection for many men. Used properly and consistently, condoms can actually increase sexual pleasure.

Major Siwila described the situation at the Prison as sad saying that in most instances the three cells at the prison meant for about 98 inmates were currently packed with 324 in mates.

‘Pafwa Abantu, Pashala Abantu’ Says New MMD NEC Member

$

0

New Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) National Executive Committee (NEC) member, National Youth Treasurer Lengwe Cornelius Bwalya has called for calm among those that seem to be perturbed at the number of MMD NEC members and MPs that have been expelled from the party by using a Bemba adage which says “Pafwa abantu, pashala abantu” (People die, people remain). He said in the life of any organization, time comes when old, tired members have to leave and allow room for new blood to come on the scene to save it from extinction and this is exactly what is happening in the MMD.

Speaking on the UNZA Radio program called “Lusaka Star” on Tuesday 10th January 2015, Mr. Bwalya informed listeners that he is one of the new youthful members on the party’s governing body and is excited to serve the party that he has loved and been passionate about for a long time.

He said he was privileged and honored to have recently been on President Nevers Sekwila Mumba’s campaign team across the country for three weeks running up to the 20th January 2015 Presidential election which gave him a rare opportunity to personally interact with Dr. Mumba and senior members of the party such as National Youth Chairman Hon. Howard Kunda and others. He said the insights he learnt during the entire campaign also gave him a rare opportunity to learn what the situation is like on the ground and appreciate the challenges that the people of Zambia, particularly those in the rural areas, face on a daily basis.

Mr. Bwalya, who is former Copperbelt University President called on his fellow youths countrywide to resist the retrogressive and pointless culture of being exploited and used as tools of violence by selfish politicians who pay them K50 and Chibuku to cause violence. He gave a moving account in which he was recently caught up in an incident involving former MMD Youth Chairman Watson Mtonga who stormed the MMD Secretariat with five other youths hired by old party members opposed to Party President Dr. Mumba. They caused mayhem, roughed up party officials and assaulted Mr. Bwalya and injured him. He said he did not retaliate but simply went to the hospital to be attended to and then later reported the matter to the police.

He lamented at the wasted lives of such young people and explained that these are not the kind of youth Dr. Mumba wants to mentor and raise, but he is looking for visionary young men and women with a desire to be useful citizens of the country, who will not allow themselves to be used by selfish politicians. He called on his fellow youth who would like to join MMD to get to know Dr. Mumba who he said they will find inspirational and who will encourage them to positively contribute to nation-building as young people.

Mr. Bwalya said he is happy that the party gathered the courage to expel some of the old rebellious leadership and called on fellow youth from tertiary institutions such as University of Zambia, Cavendish University, Copperbelt University, and others to organize themselves and become part of the solution by joining parties like the MMD under the visionary leadership of Dr. Mumba.

The usual well-known organized UPND cadres started calling one after another to discourage Mr. Bwalya with their usual ‘song’ that MMD was dead and that they disband and join the UPND. Several callers called in to encourage Mr. Bwalya and urged him to ignore these well-known UPND cadres. Mr. Bwalya said the rebel members had no respect whatsoever for the party leadership and the MMD constitution as they wanted to rule the party based on greed and selfish ambition.

He wondered why these members have opposed a democratically elected president. They should have known that the MMD Constitution does not have any provision for the imposition of a presidential candidate, like they had hoped to do in the Rupiah Banda case, when there is an elected president.

An online publication on Friday reported that First Lady, Grace Mugabe’s appendectomy operation in Singapore last month did not go well, resulting in her alleged admittance into intensive care, as doctors are now reportedly battling to save her life.

According to ‘The Telescope News‘, the First Lady also could be suffering from septicemia, as her real medical problems remain a mystery.

Singapore based sources for the publication reportedly said: “there is not much information here either, but what we have heard is that Mugabe’s wife was admitted into ICU in January, and she is in a critical condition.”

“Furthermore, grapevine has it that she is suffering from septicemia, or blood poisoning.”
